If you are overweight and have struggled to lose this excess body fat in the past along with feeling tired and lacking energy it may be that your metabolism has slowed down. If you have a history of low calorie diets and yo yo dieting this can cause your metabolic engine to slow down in an ancient ’survival mode’ in an attempt to stop starvation.health

Even very low fat, high carbohydrate or low protein diets can have the same effect along with chronic under eating and even excessive cardiovascular exercise. You are in fact teaching your body the exact opposite of what you want to achieve. You want to lose body fat but your body has now become extremely efficient at storing it and this makes future weight loss almost impossible.

It is ironic that most of the diet programs that claim to help you get rid of body fat end up making it harder for you in the long run as they use harsh metabolism decreasing diets that do the opposite of what is needed. They also almost never require proper exercise in the way of muscle building and maintaining exercise which keeps your metabolism from slowing when calories are reduced. Any wonder diets fail 95% of the time.

If you wish to reverse this situation, rebuild your metabolism and coax your body into giving up its fat stores you will need a new and different approach. First you will have to be consistent and make up your mind to ditch the yo yo dieting and exercise regime.

Your eating must support your exercise program so you have enough energy to put the required effort and intensity into the program for it to work. Eat every 2-3 hours which will give you between 5-7 meals each day. Make sure there is around 20 grams of protein in each one and the balance made up with raw and cooked vegetables. Try and ditch the processed food and start cooking from scratch with whole foods for best results.
